Our Mission

The Process Wellness Foundation is dedicated to making mental health care accessible and affordable for all. We believe that everyone deserves compassionate, high-quality therapy regardless of financial barriers. Through community-driven initiatives, innovative support programs, and a commitment to equity in mental health care, we strive to foster healing, resilience, and well-being for individuals and families in need. Our mission is to bridge the gap between those seeking support and the resources they deserve, ensuring that mental wellness is a right, not a privilege.

Our “Why”

The Process Wellness Foundation is a nonprofit mental health organization with a simple but powerful mission: to make high-quality, culturally responsive therapy accessible to everyone—regardless of financial means. We believe healing should not be a luxury.

Here’s how it works: Through the generosity of individual donors, community sponsors, and grant funding, we’re able to subsidize the true cost of therapy sessions. That means a session that typically costs $150 may be offered at $50—or even completely free—to someone who otherwise couldn’t afford care. Our model prioritizes equity, not profit, and channels every donation directly into expanding access to therapy for individuals, couples, and families who are often excluded from traditional mental health systems.

We also believe that therapists—especially those in training—deserve care too. Pre-licensed clinicians are the backbone of accessible therapy, yet many work for free or extremely low wages while carrying heavy caseloads and student debt. We are actively working to change that. Our goal is to create paid training opportunities that honor their labor, support their growth, and reduce burnout—so that the healing they offer is sustainable for both client and clinician.

The Process Wellness Foundation is more than a stopgap for under-resourced communities. We’re building a new model—one that challenges the systemic inequities baked into our mental health care system. One where both clients and therapists can thrive.

When you donate or sponsor, you’re not just supporting an organization—you’re covering the cost of real therapy sessions for real people and investing in a more just, humane future for mental health care.

Healing is possible. And it starts with all of us.

About Our Founder

Dr. Sahar Martinez, Psy.D, LMFT, PMH-C, is a licensed therapist, professor, and passionate advocate for accessible mental health care. With deep roots in generational healing, perinatal mental health, and trauma-informed therapy, Dr. Sahar founded The Process Wellness Foundation to help dismantle the financial and systemic barriers that keep too many individuals and families from receiving the care they deserve. She brings years of clinical expertise, academic leadership, and community engagement to this mission—guided by a belief that healing is a collective, political, and deeply human process.
